In this episode of Lead with Heart, I’m talking to Alana Weinroth. She is the Director of Development and Communications at Covenant House California, a Certified Life & Mindset Coach, and a 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor.
After experiencing bouts of severe burnout and vicarious trauma, Alana reconnected with herself, established a healthy self-care routine, and started the Give a Damn Community to help others do the same and take care of themselves.
Join us today as we dive deeper into burnout, vicarious trauma, self-care, and life and mindset coaching. Alana shares some practical advice as well as some tools to help you start taking care of yourself first.

NOTEWORTHY QUOTES
“We feel like if we pause for ourselves, we’re going to miss something for someone else. But the truth of the matter is, if we don’t take care of ourselves, we are no good for our community and for our clients. They feel that burnout, they feel that desperation, they feel that energy from us.”
“We have that fear that if you don’t show up, every single hour of every single day, a life will be lost. So, I think we get so burnt out, we get so rundown that we end up forcing ourselves to those doctor’s appointments.”
“The biggest thing is like when [they’re] experiencing burnout, oftentimes, it’s just because they’ve put themselves last for so long. So, give your people the space, hold space for them. We don’t need to fix anything. You don’t need to give them advice. More often than not, people just need space held for them.”
