I’m so excited to have Bekah Giacomantonio as my guest in this episode of Lead with Heart. She is a nonprofit dropout and the founder, host, and keeper of the Interdependence Incubator, a community for white women who crave healing and a space for us to practice freedom.
The time is NOW to start healing and making a collective change.
Join us today as we talk about healing and change at the personal, interpersonal, and systemic levels.
In this episode:
- [02:04] Bekah’s journey of freedom and healing
- [06:30] The pillars of the Interdependence Incubator
- [10:38] The 4-part mindfulness practice Bekah starts every session with
- [18:40] Creating a brave space container with community commitments
- [24:20] Speak from the “I” because your experience is enough
- [27:58] Be careful not to take up all the space just because you can
- [30:06] Why you should care about collective liberation and healing
“If there’s one thing that I learned in my burnout and my lived experience is that [individual healing] is just not going to get us to collective liberation.”
“We may all be white women, but that term, that identity may mean something very different for the [other] people in the space.”
“I am worthy of being heard today as I am, exactly where I am in my own experience. And that does not mean that I am worthy of being heard in every single place that I exist. Like, not every table that I sit at needs to hear my exact experience.”
“No one is free until everybody is right? […] Black women have known this, they have been telling us there’s stuff we can do right now to start changing that and living into the collective liberation.”
Bekah talked a little about her work at the phenomenal organization Yes World, which gathers groups of people and facilitates dialogue between them. To learn more about Yes World, go to yesworld.org.
